How Our Lead Times Work
This document provides a comprehensive overview of the lead time statuses associated with products available on the BOFI Racing website. Understanding these lead times is essential for making informed purchasing decisions, as they indicate the availability of items and the expected timeframes for delivery. Below, we break down the various lead time categories and their meanings.
Lead Time Categories
Every product on our website has a lead time displayed below the price and above the ‘Add to Basket’ button. This lead time reflects our most current information regarding the availability of the item. The lead time text can take on one of three categories: ‘In Stock’, ‘On Backorder’, and ‘Out of Stock’. Each category is explained in detail below.
In Stock
Items categorised as ‘In Stock’ are available in our warehouse and ready for immediate dispatch. The lead time for these items is typically descriptive, often displaying accurate stock quantities. For example, ‘Available Stock’ indicates that the item is physically present and ready for shipment. If there is an active restock order, the lead time may read ‘X more due on DD/MM/YYYY’, indicating that additional stock is expected to arrive on the specified date.
Items with this lead time status are eligible for next-day dispatch or collection when ordered. Examples of in-stock lead times include:
12 in stock
4 in stock | 9 more on 12/12/2020
On Backorder
When a product is marked as ‘On Backorder’, it signifies that the item is not currently available in our warehouse and cannot be dispatched or collected the next day. This status typically indicates that the item is temporarily out of stock, or in some cases, it may be shipped directly from the supplier. Items on backorder can be identified by the phrase ‘Available to order’ preceding any additional information. Specific examples of backorder lead times include:
6 due on 12/12/2020
6 due on 12/12/2020 | 11 more incoming
The numbers displayed indicate the quantity of items expected in the next shipment, not the total number of items in stock. If an order is placed for an item with this status, the available quantity will decrease accordingly. If the lead time includes ‘more incoming’, it indicates that the restock order consists of multiple shipments, with additional quantities arriving after the displayed date.
Examples of longer lead times may include:
Available to order – 1 month and 2 days
Available to order – ships in …
These lead times may reflect items experiencing longer-than-normal delays. A specific restock date indicates that we have received confirmation from the supplier, while a more general lead time suggests that the item is custom-ordered or less commonly stocked. The displayed time is based on historical data from past shipments.
For example:
4 overdue from supplier
This indicates that the item has been ordered from our suppliers but is currently delayed by three or more days. We will update this information as we receive updates from our suppliers or shipping partners. The number displayed refers to the quantity still available for purchase, not the total size of the restock.
Out of Stock
The ‘Out of Stock’ status indicates that a product is no longer available or that we do not intend to restock it. Occasionally, an item may be marked as ‘Out of Stock’ due to exceptional supply issues, but it generally signifies a permanent halt to sales. Items with this status do not have a restock date available, and we recommend considering alternative products. For assistance, please contact our customer support team if you encounter an item with the following statuses:
Out of stock
No longer available
General Examples
The lead time calculations are based on real data from purchase orders, tracking the time from when the order is placed to when the item is received. For instance, a status of “available to order – usually ships in 3 days” means that once you place your order, we will place our order with the supplier, and it typically takes three days to arrive, provided there is stock available.
However, industry limitations may lead to delays. If a green stock value is displayed, the dispatch date shown in the basket will be accurate, as we are not reliant on third-party suppliers.
Disclaimer
While we strive to provide accurate lead times and arrival dates for products on our website, it is important to note that these dates are not final or binding. Manufacturing and shipment delays can occur unexpectedly, causing items to be late in restocking. Our website will always display the most current information available, and we will update estimated arrival dates as soon as we receive new information. If you are looking to order or have already ordered an item that is delayed, please contact our customer support team to discuss alternative product availability.
