Below are out most commonly asked questions about deliveries into the European Union.
What is Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) Shipping?
Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) is a shipping service where the VAT and customs duties (if there are any) are paid at the checkout, instead of when they enter the country of delivery. With DDP you know exactly what you are paying when you place your order, and won’t be faced with any unexpected charges at the time of delivery.
What is IOSS shipping?
The Import One-Stop-Shop (IOSS) scheme was implemented to simplify the declaration and payment of VAT simpler when importing goods into the EU. Orders under the £125 / €150 ex VAT threshold that are sent by IOSS have VAT collected at checkout and are exempt from customs duties, eliminating any surprise fees before delivery.
Can you send my parcel via IOSS?
Yes! Parcels under £125 / €150 ex VAT, which are eligible for shipping by IOSS, can be sent via Royal Mail. If your parcel is not eligible for IOSS and is under 120cm you will be shown Samos DHL Express DDP shipping
Which counties can use Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) shipping?
Countries that are members of the European Union and are accessible by road can use Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) shipping.
These are:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
European countries we cannot currently ship to using DDP shipping are:
Cyprus, Malta and Greece.
Which carriers offer Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) shipping?
DHL Express and Royal Mail deliver our European parcels which are shipped using a Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) services.
How much does DDP shipping cost?
Shipping costs are calculated automatically at the checkout when the delivery address is entered, and is comparable to Delivery Duty Unpaid (DDU) services offered by UPS.
Will I have to pay additional fees?
There are no hidden admin fees, handling fees or surcharges to pay before delivery because we clear your parcel through customs on your behalf. The price you pay at checkout is the final price, there are no surprises! If your order has been delivered to an address within the European Union and you have been charged, please keep proof of payment and contact our customer service team.
How much will I have to pay in duties?
Duties are calculated for each product at checkout and typically range from 2.7% to 4.5% of the ex-VAT price. Some products such as clothing are subject to duties between 7% and 12%. However, products made in the EU and UK are exempt from import duties. Certain trade agreements may also mean parts have reduced or zero import duties.
How can I see how much customs duty there is to pay?
For all orders shipping used a Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) service you will see duties calculated separately at checkout above the order total.
Why is VAT always charged at 21% for Samos deliveries?
To process parcels through customs as quickly as possible we take them to the Netherlands first, where VAT is charged at 21%. They are then entered into free circulation within the EU and are taken to the destination country. This allows us to send parcels in bulk to a single country, reducing delivery costs and eliminating customs admin fees.
Will my parcel be delayed?
Due to the way we clear your parcels through customs, overall delivery times should be shorter because customs will not need to contact you for payment of VAT and duties. However, your order may take slightly longer to be dispatched than normal as we group individual parcels into larger shipments.
Why do UPS orders not include VAT or duties?
Unfortunately we are unable to use DDP services when shipping via UPS. Orders using this shipping method will be shipped as normal. VAT, customs duties and any handling fees that may be due will need to be paid at the border by the customer prior to delivery.
What is the maximum size parcel size for Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) services?
The largest parcel we can send on a DDP service is 100x43x43cm. The majority of our parcels fit easily within these dimensions. However, some longer items such as front lips, side skirts and wings fall outside these limits. Most products on our website will show the dimensions under the Additional Info tab.
What is the maximum parcel weight for Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) services?
Each box can weigh up to 20 kg. There is no limit to the number of boxes that can shipped in an order. Most products on our website will show the weight under the Additional Info tab.
Can I use Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) for my business?
Unfortunately, due to the way we pay the VAT on your behalf, you will not be able to claim the VAT back for your business.
